What the...?

I called in sick this morning (ugh. What's new.) Well... I didn't call. I emailed (totally legit since it was 7 am).

And after my email, I went straight back to bed. Ahhhh... sleep.

But I was rudely woken up at 9:15 by a loud pounding on our front door. I didn't actually get up to see who it was... but after trying to go back to sleep, curiosity got the best of me, and I shuffled downstairs to check it out.

This is what I found...

Those are two very large Macy's boxes. But what I found inside the boxes would take anyone by surprise...

Not one... not two... but six sets of china.

Six!

I knew Macy's was having a buy-one-get-one-free sale on our china, and I knew it was being snatched up fast... but I had no idea we'd get this much of it at once!

We now have 8 full sets of china, which means we could throw a very swanky dinner party ((in our less-than-swanky house)).

While this was some excellent mail to receive, it's really just the beginning. I'm expecting packages from Bath & Body Works, Paper-Source, Cut Cardstock, Amazon, and 2 from Etsy.

Plus, I received this delightful necklace in the mail yesterday...

Ryan and I both agree that it's even cuter in person than it is in the photos.

Next up... an update on our invitations, and our hand-drawn map!

Fitness Friday: WW Week 3

I went to my fourth meeting yesterday, rounding out week 3 of Weight Watchers. I lost 1.2 pounds this past week, with a total weight loss of 6.8 pounds. It's not a ton... but they say you're supposed to average .5-2 pounds per week, so I'm right on target.

Cue the cheesy high five moment!

I changed my tracking week so it ends on Saturday (it used to end on Wednesday, the night before my weigh-in). I figure I usually eat the most on Saturdays anyway... so now I won't be able to blow through all my extra points at the beginning of the "week" anymore.

In fact... I've been trying to save up all my extra points this week. I've only used 8 out of 49. The rest will go towards tomorrow's trip to Indianapolis to meet up with my bridesmaids. They expect some eating out, drinking out, and possibly even drinking in (one of them mentioned something about beer in the hotel hot tub!). So I'm gonna need all the extra points and all the will power I can muster!

In the past 3 weeks, I have tracked every morsel of food that goes into my mouth, and I have never gone over my points for the week... I don't want this week to be the exception!

I hope everyone else is doing great working on those fitness goals. Remember that while the big white dress may be motivating... it shouldn't be your entire reason for getting healthy. I'm going to start my new family with a new me!

Taking a Sick Day

I'm currently home sick.

Not that I had any big plans for the day... but I missed church and our weekly grocery shopping trip. I haven't stepped foot outside our house all day.

I've got a sore throat and a general "sickly blah" feeling. I guess you could call it a cold with a side of no talking.

Unfortunately, this isn't unusual for me. I get this exact illness 3-4 times per year! Ugh.

So when I sat down to write this post, I began to think of the ways in which my illness relates to weddings.

And then it hit me. DUH. Because no one wants to be sick on their wedding day. I actually have no idea what I would do!

Ryan told me that his father was sick on his wedding day. If I recall the story correctly, I think it was something he ate the day before. Come the day of the wedding, he was throwing up and generally felt like crap. He barely made it through the ceremony and the reception.

OMG. Knowing my luck, that is totally something that would happen to me.

If I get sick on our wedding day, can we have a "do over"?

Please?

All the hard work and money put into that one day... and you forever remember it as a day you were miserable and ill.

Maybe the overall excitement of the day would ward off too many bad feelings. Perhaps the adrenaline would get you through to the end. But if the wedding was today... I'm not sure I would even have the voice to say my vows!

So stay healthy, fellow brides! (And be careful what you serve at your rehearsal dinner!)

I'll just take the fact that I'm sick today to mean one less chance I'll be sick come June 25th.
